Headwaters Church History

Helena Montana is the Queen City of the Rockies.

Helena’s 19th century mining and land barons gave their boomtown this royal title. Denver may have grown larger and stolen the crown, but Helena will always be the queen in the hearts of visitors and those of us lucky enough to call her home. It’s a small, friendly city that’s also Montana’s state capital.

Outdoor activities, creative arts of all kinds and a rich slice of history make Helena special. Helena was settled some 140 years ago, after four gold-seekers decided to take one ‘last chance’ at the precious ore and they found it here! Helena sits along the mighty Missouri river almost directly between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.

A New Church – Headwaters Covenant

A church planted out of Life Covenant Church (also in Helena, Montana), Headwaters Covenant Church began in 2009 by founding pastor Pastor Matt Randles. In July of 2011 Pastor Matt Randles, his wife Merideth and their two daughters were called back to Seattle after their faithful tenure in Helena. From August until October of 2011 Pastor Lisa Eastman came as Interim Worship Pastor.

In October of 2011 Headwaters called Pastor Seth Dombach and his wife Rachel (with 2 sons; third and fourth born in Helena) to pastor this 2 and a half-year-old church plant. After 13 years we are thankful to be here and excited for all that is next for this church. Headwaters is comprehensively flourishing and excited to be salt and light in the Helena valley.

The Brand New Chapter

In January of 2024 Headwaters was approached by Christ the Redeemer Church to join forces. After much prayer, many meetings and Spirit filled dialogue, we merged the 2 churches into one. Headwaters hired their Pastor Iain Boyd as part time associate pastor. This is a brand new venture as we began worshiping together and sharing ministry June 2024. We would love to have you come join us as we seek to cultivate vibrant, authentic disciples of Jesus, who are about LOVE. TRUTH. ACTION. TOGETHER. We desire to love like Jesus does and serve like He did in the power of the Holy Spirit.
